Jazz Society is a non-profit organization based in Hong Kong, dedicated to advancing jazz and music through performance, outreach, education, and creative collaboration. Founded in 2021, we have established ourselves as a platform for innovative programs, community empowerment, and artistic development by unleashing the creative power of jazz.
Our mission is to promote and celebrate artistic excellence and diversity in jazz within our community. We aim to cultivate a vibrant jazz scene in Hong Kong by providing accessible programs and performances that inspire discovery, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for jazz among people of all ages and backgrounds. Additionally, we seek to foster collaboration and innovation by connecting jazz with other art forms and reaching new audiences.

Alan Kwan

Alan Kwan

Alan Kwan is recognized worldwide as a multi-talented guitarist, composer, and producer. Under Alan’s leadership, the band Invisible Architecture, which debuted in 2021 with the album Between Now and Never, won the Golden Melody Award for Best Instrumental Album Producer and received three additional nominations. Alan’s first album, Petrichor, also earned three nominations at the 31st GMA. In 2024, Alan collaborated with Japanese pianist Masaki Hayashi to release a duo jazz album Liquid Sunshine, which is featured on multiple Apple Music editorial playlists.

Alan performs and records with many of the world’s leading musicians, including Billy Childs, Stefan Karlsson, Dayna Stephens, Fabian Almazan, Linda May Oh, Johnathan Blake, Orlando Le Fleming, Reuben James, Glenn Zaleski, Paul Bollenback, Rogerio Boccato, Kazumi Watanabe, Lisa Ono, and Riyoko Takagi, among others.

Alan regularly conducts masterclasses worldwide and has been invited by the Musicians Institute as a Visiting Artist for its Masterclass Series. Besides, he collaborates with prominent instrument and gear makers, serving as artists for Eventide, JAM Pedals, Westville Guitars, Yamaoka Guitars, Stringjoy, and VEMURAM. His music transcends traditional boundaries, with compositions featured in films, television and visual art projects, solidifying his reputation as a trailblazing artist in modern jazz.

In 2021, Alan received the Secretary for Home Affairs' Commendation for his outstanding contribution to the development of arts and culture specifically in youth education and social outreach in music.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Wong Chun

Wong is a Hong Kong director and screenwriter. His feature film debut Mad World was nominated for eight awards at the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards. For this film, he won Best New Director at both the 53rd Golden Horse Awards and the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards.

William Du

Du is a passionate advocate for global youth leadership and social impact. Recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Global Shaper, he serves as the curator of the Hong Kong Hub and holds key positions within the organization. He is also Head of Marketing and Leasing at Kadoorie Estates Limited.

Felix Tham

Tham is a versatile violinist who trained under the late Professor Lin Yaoji. He has collaborated with various artists and bands across genres, including Acoufunkture, Cafe 852, and Jing Wong. His achievements include performing in the acclaimed musical “The Spy in the Love Room” and recording the tango “Por Una Cabeza” with RTHK.

Eric Fan

Fan is an accomplished pianist who discovered his passion for the pipe organ in 2008 and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional pedal keyboard skills. He has performed internationally in venues such as the University of Oklahoma, Manchester City Hall, and the Hangzhou Grand Theater.

Tam Chun Sing

Tam is a lawyer with expertise in commercial and corporate law, specializing in areas such as initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. He has provided legal counsel to numerous listing applicants and listed companies, offering guidance on commercial transactions and compliance with Hong Kong listing regulations.
